Pingpong Movement

ANCA Motion’s laser cutting application includes a wide range of cutting features, including different repositioning moves such as pingpong.

When a part is cut during the laser cutting process, it has the potential to kick up and obstruct the movement of the cutting head. When the cutting head collides with a cut part, it can move the workpiece ruining the whole sheet, or collide with the thick plate resulting in damage to the cutting head.

ANCA Motion’s laser cutting application includes a wide range of cutting features, including different repositioning moves such as pingpong.

The pingpong repositioning move allows the cutting head to safely move between contours without the risk of hitting cut parts. ANCA Motion’s pingpong move allows the operator to adjust the initial retract height. This feature is crucial to avoid the laser head colliding with cut parts and for customers that wish to maximise their production efficiency.

Another benefit of the pingpong move is it uses a parabolic curve as a motion profile. This profile allows the machine to move smoothly from contour to contour.

The customer can then cut material at high speeds resulting in decreased

cycle time and increase in productivity.
