Efficient, High Performance Motion Control
The Ethercat® based AMD5x Series is a multi-axis servo system that delivers high efficiency and performance motion control for rotary and linear motors. The bussed system architecture significantly reduces the complexity of multi-axis control implementation, which also simplifies the installation process. To operate the system, simply attach the required number of drives at various output current ratings to the central Passive Infeed Unit (PIU). Detailed drive configuration and turning parameters can be customized easily for creation of unique applications to optimise system performance.
The AMD5x Series consists of drive models with continuous current ratings of 12A, 20A or 35A, and a 15KW central PIU with direct connection to 380-480VAC 3 phase input. The drive’s large encoder bandwidth and ultra-low current noise sensing enhance its excellent operating characteristics. The build-in high-speed probe inputs, galvanic isolated motor temperature sensor input and brake control simplify the system integration. The PIU provides power to all bussed drives by converting 3 phase mains to a filtered DC supply and can also diagnose various system faults. Motion control is performed by the drive controller, which accepts position feedback from motor encoders and/or separate linear scales. The drive utilizes state-of-the-art current-regulated, pulse-width-modulated voltage-source inverter technology, which manages motor performance. In general, the drive control receives motion control commands via a higherlevel controller, which is based on an Ethernet-based field-bus interface. The AMD5x Series also supports position, velocity and torque control modes making it the perfect solution for even the most complex application.
